Final project

My name is Bruce Hochstetler and I have enjoyed t taking Photoshop and I have learned a lot. My favorite part of the course was learning the pen tool mainly because I heard that if you’re good with the pen tool you could be more valuable. On my final project I decided to create a space station and I focused on creating a hangar with the bay doors open so I could put in a space background.
I started by making copies of my original pictures and then I made five layer masks so I could mask out parts I didn’t want and I also gave each one some layer styles. I was going for a concept art type of art. The layer styles I used was outer and inner glow, drop shadow, color overlay, bevel and emboss, stroke, gradient and pattern overlay. I also decided to blend some colors together on the walls, ceiling, platform, and the rest of the room. I created a shadow for the battleship that I created. I used some adjustment layers like levels, vibrance, color balance, brightness and contrast, Hue and saturation. I also made some custom Brushes by selecting objects I wanted and the clicking on define Brush presets in the edit menu. I also made a couple of selections and made some color channels.
This project was challenging until I had a clear idea of what I wanted to create and then it was just a matter of putting pieces together to create something extraordinary. I actually had fun with the project.

creating Grayscale for final Project

The first thing i did was look on the internet for some good images of space stations. I found some images on wikimedia commons. I found a room that looked useable and i made some layers and put the floor, ceiling, and walls on seperate layers. I also found a cool image of space that i could use and i had a hard time finding a space ship to use so i decided to make my own by finding a battleship and making a copy of it and i did some erasing and i created my own space craft.I then made some selections and created some grayscales of the space station.

Putting images together and using grayscale

First thing i did was i wrote down various ideas about what i wanted to put together. I decided i would go for a perspective view, so i went around Chicago taking pictures of various buildings and Structures. I went to China town and took some pictures of A bridge and a few buildings. I also went to Navy pier and took some pictures there, but i decided not to use them. I also went up North to the Montrose beach and i took some pictures of the beach and Lake michigan. I also took a few pictures of streets and roads. I ended up on the west side so i decided to take some pictures of buildings in that area.
I made a huge mistake when i was taking the pictures, i didn't take in account the horizon point of each of the pictures that i took. I didn't realize the mistake until monday and by that time my camera was already turned in to the cage and i didn't have time to take new pictures. I guess as long as i know what mistake i made and how to prevent it from happening again, that would have to be good enough.
I also put in a grayscale and i made each object a different color of gray, at least a person can tell the objects apart from each other.
